The recently launched Waxman Training Academy is now officially approved by NAPIT as well as the CIPHE. The West Yorkshire Academy offers a selection of courses dealing with solar PV, solar thermal, water regulations, heat pump installation, unvented hot water, biomass and practical ‘working from heights’ sessions.
The brand new training centre features a lecture theatre-style classroom, a troubleshooting test room and scaffolding rig mounted to multiple roofs on a house shell, where demonstrations can be carried out at height.
The Academy is headed by Simon Pattison, who joined Waxman Energy as renewable and energy technical manager last year with some six years renewable energy installation training and assessment experience. “The Academy enables installers to develop and update their skill set with a hands-on course that is heavily centred on practical experience,” says Simon.
As well as being NAPIT and CIPHE Approved, the courses are Logic Certified. Solar PV and solar thermal courses meet the training entry requirements for the MCS; the unvented hot water course is recognised by Competent Person Schemes (CPS); and the water regulations course is fully recognised by the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS).
