Another Queen’s Award presented to Mira

UK shower manufacturer Mira Showers has been presented with a Queen’s Award for Enterprise for the design of the company’s Sport Max electric shower. To perform the honours, the Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, Edward Gillespie OBE, and Councillor Steve Jordan, Leader of Cheltenham Borough Council, were invited to a celebratory event at the company’s Cheltenham production facility.

This is the second occasion that the company has been awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, after the Mira Flight Safe anti-slip shower tray, which is manufactured at its dedicated trays and enclosures factory in Hull, scooped the award in 2017.

Following a welcome from Mira Showers MD Craig Baker, Peter Bungard, Clerk of the Lieutenancy read a citation, after which the Lord-Lieutenant presented the Queen’s Award and certificate to Mr Baker and assembled Mira associates. VIP guests then enjoyed a factory visit and afternoon tea.

Speaking at the event, Mr Baker said: “This award highlights our commitment to innovation and the hard work and level of detail we put into the research and design stages, which allows us to ensure products we bring to market are meeting the ever-changing demands from both consumers and installers. As a forward-thinking company, our focus on developing exclusive technology is what has made Mira the biggest contributor to the showering industry in the last 90 years.

“Our Research & Development team is always working collaboratively to look for ways to optimise the showering experience. Installers are the voice of the user, and so holding regular meetings with our Installer Clubs throughout the UK gives us valuable insight to shape the design of products and bring new technology to life.”

The Mira Sport Max features patented technology to increase water flow by up to 30%, without using any more water. Other advances include Clearscale technology which cuts limescale by up to 50% for a better-performing, longer-lasting shower and Sensi-flo which prevents scalding if the shower head or hose become blocked or the inlet pressure drops. The electric shower’s separate power and temperature controls allow users to set their ideal shower, while advanced pressure stabilised temperature controls keep their selected showering temperature consistent.
