Better milk through better hot water

Equipment from ACV has been installed at East Logan Farm, Castle Douglas, a large dairy farm in Scotland with over 230 milking cows. The facility has a considerable demand for hot water for cleaning processes.

Hot water was previously generated by electricity, which was expensive and, at times, unreliable. The owner of the farm made the decision to install a biomass boiler via installers VG Energy, with an SL600 tank from ACV, which would reduce the running costs of the facility and improve the hot water production. The installed equipment included a 150kW Heisomat RHK AK biomass unit and a Smartline 600 Tank-in-Tank cylinder.

“Installing the ACV Smartline Tank improved the quality of our milk by reducing the Bactoscan rating of our milk by five points, which dictates the market price and, in turn, improves our market position,” says Brian Yates,  farmer.
