Ecoflam has supplied a 350kW MAX GAS burner to Channing and Sons Farm in Coventry, as part of the refurbishment of a heating system connected to an anaerobic digester.
The farm, which has been in the family for four generations, installed the sustainable energy system in 2015, but the original burner had failed and become inefficient to maintain. As a result, the farm owners chose to upgrade the unit, so turned to industrial heating experts, Ryla Combustion, for the most appropriate solution.
Commenting on the project, Neil Hunston, MD at Ryla Combustion, says: “We needed to provide a durable, high performance burner that was proven in this type of environment and compatible with bio-gas. After speaking to Ecoflam and discussing the requirements, we opted for the MAX GAS due to its efficiencies and ease of installation. We’ve always known that Ecoflam manufactures top quality burners and we’re confident that this unit will stand the test of time.”
Anaerobic digester installations are designed to deal with the millions of tonnes of bio-waste in the UK, converting it into energy and bio-fertiliser. This type of energy is part of the Government’s efforts to source 15% of the UK’s energy from renewable sources by 2020.
Mark Richards, Sales Manager at Ecoflam, says: “It’s great to see the MAX GAS showing how adaptable it is, plus we’re really pleased to see one of our burners utilised for such a forward-thinking approach to energy production. We’ve always been confident in the performance and longevity of our burners, which is why Ryla Combustion specified us for this project.”
Channing and Sons has continually evolved over the years, with experience ranging from dairy farming to cultivating cereals and potatoes. Currently, the farm grows maize and grass to feed the energy generator, while also producing wheat.
The highly popular MAX GAS range of extremely low NOx gas burners is suitable for domestic and commercial applications. Available in outputs from 17kW to 500kW, the range has best in class NOx emissions and features an extremely efficient fan ventilation system – making it compatible with a wide variety of boilers with high combustion chamber pressures.
To make maintenance easy, the MAX GAS has a single bolt burner fixing with the capability to firmly secure it to the flange in three fixing points. Plus, the hinge flange also allows access to the burner head without losing burner settings. Additional features include an air damper with progressive micrometric air regulation, easy to assemble combustion head and a separate gas train.
The MAX GAS burner range utilises standard components from industry leaders, making it exceptionally easy to obtain spare parts. It is also designed and engineered to burn the next generation of fuels including LPG, Biogas and Town gas.
