South East training provider, Logic4training, is now offering successful candidates on its LCL Awards Level 3 Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) course access to a free heat pump for their home, plus product training, MCS certification for the completed installation and even cashback to cover time spent installing the ASHP.
The offer comes courtesy of the ‘Start at Home’ initiative, Nesta’s brainchild designed to bridge the gap between becoming a qualified installer and gaining real-world practical experience. It follows research shows that installers who practice heat pump installation skills on their own property are more confident and competent as a result.
Logic4training qualified heat pump engineers can take advantage of versions of this initiative through either Grant Engineering’s ‘Start with Grant’ or Alto Energy’s ‘Alto Assured Start at Home’ schemes. Both providers offer similar packages, including design and commissioning support, long warranties, a hot water cylinder and all the associated kit required to fit the heat pump. Engineers who take part in ‘Start with Grant’ will be eligible to join Grant UK’s G1 Scheme. Alto Energy offers a choice of heat pumps from a range of manufacturers, recipients of their version of ‘Start at Home’ will become ‘Alto Assured Partners’, with access to Alto’s MCS Umbrella scheme.

Mark Krull, director for Logic4training, says: “This really is a once in a lifetime opportunity for heat pump engineers, providing not only practical experience, but also a brand-new low carbon heating solution for their own home. We’re delighted to be able to offer Logic4training qualified installers access to two excellent ‘Start at Home’ style programmes, which can also be combined with the Heat Training Grant, so the training itself costs next to nothing too.
