Gas Safety Week kicks off on Monday, running from 8 to 14 September, with this year’s campaign centred on the theme “Looking after your home, friends, family”. Once again, it will shine a spotlight on the importance of yearly checks and the professionalism of Gas Safe registered engineers in keeping homes and businesses safe.

This annual event has grown into the industry’s biggest public awareness initiative, bringing together thousands of supporters each year. For engineers, it is both a chance to demonstrate their expertise and to remind customers why choosing a registered professional is the only safe option. Carbon monoxide poisoning continues to affect more than a thousand people annually in the UK, underlining the importance of regular servicing and checks.

The Heating and Hotwater Industry Council (HHIC) has confirmed its support for the campaign, joining organisations across the country to raise awareness of safe gas use. Stewart Clements, director of HHIC, says: “Gas Safety Week serves as a crucial reminder for all households and businesses to prioritise regular servicing of their gas appliances. Annual safety checks by a Gas Safe registered engineer are essential to maintaining efficiency and safeguarding against potential risks.”
