Now available from Danfoss is a new range of plate heat exchangers said to deliver exceptional performance, efficiency and flexibility in a compact design.

The range features Danfoss’s micro plate technology with a dimple pattern design for improved flow of fluid across the micro plates and utilisation of the surface area. Danfoss claims the new Micro Plate Heat Exchangers offer up to 10% enhanced heat transfer and up to 35% lower pressure loss compared to traditional plate heat exchangers.

The range is designed to meet the needs of virtually any heating and cooling application, from domestic to commercial, including heat networks, centralised boiler plants and in high rise buildings where they can be used as pressure breakers for heating, cooling and hot water production.

The micro plate technology provides the flexibility for individual application design. By varying the number, size and placement of dimples, micro plates can be adapted to each system for optimal heat transfer and minimal pressure drop. The new product portfolio includes Brazed and Gasketed heat exchangers.

Danfoss Marketing Director Bjorn Sejr Nielsen says the heat exchangers represent an entirely new approach to plate design. He comments: “Danfoss has been in the HEX business for a number of years, supplying components for both its own products, such as Heat Interface Units (HIUs), and for larger sub-stations, and for markets throughout Europe. This latest innovation is key to supporting efficient design in the growing heat network and high-rise building sectors, where reduced pressure loss and improved heat transfer can make big reductions in system energy use.”
