Majority of customers don’t know about efficiency of electric showers

Latest consumer research from Triton has highlighted an opportunity for installers to champion both the environmental and financial benefits of energy efficient electric showers.

A recent survey of 2000 consumers, commissioned by the leading UK shower manufacturer, found that less than half of respondents (44%) consider electric models to be more energy efficient than other types of showers – suggesting there is work to be done when it comes to raising awareness amongst homeowners for bathroom products that have tangible environmental gains.

With electric offering a way to save water, energy and money, Triton is calling on installers to highlight the potential positives when speaking to customers.

The research did reveal that consumers are already open to these types of discussions when choosing the best performing products for their homes. Around 62% of respondents agreed that every household has an important part to play in reducing energy and water consumption in the home, which suggests there is a significant appetite from homeowners to understand new ways of conserving precious resources.

In fact, reducing the cost of household bills (69%) and lowering impact on the environment (60%) were noted as the top two drivers linked to being more environmentally friendly.

David Tutton, MD at Triton Showers, says: “While electric showers offer an energy efficient way to heat and use water, our survey revealed that the majority of homeowners appear to be unaware of these important benefits. Paired with an overwhelming demand to reduce the cost of living and lower household impact on the environment, it’s apparent there is an opening for installers to raise awareness of the benefits of the category.

“As part of our commitment to providing solutions that offer a cleaner conscience, all of our electric showers are ‘A’ rated as well as around 96 per cent efficient. This makes it easy for installers and consumers alike to choose a product that will save water, money and energy when installed and used correctly.”
