Opportunity in National Apprenticeship Week

Today marks the start of National Apprenticeship Week (8-14 February), and national training provider, JTL, is encouraging both learners and employers to act now to build for a better future.

JTL says National Apprenticeship Week is an opportunity for learners to renew their aspirations and build skills in a bid to boost employment chances and ensure a prosperous future. Whether it is a case of exploring post-16 options or looking for a change of career, an apprenticeship gives people the chance to gain skills and earn at the same time.

Employers are being encouraged to utilise the incentives offered by government of up to £3000 for taking on an apprentice before the end of March.

JTL’s chief executive, Jon Graham, says: “Since JTL was established in 1990, we have trained around 60,000 apprentices in the building services engineering sector, witnessing thousands of people reach their potential and progress in a variety of careers they love. Yet, this past year, JTL has recognised more than ever the pivotal role trade professionals play in carrying out essential work, with apprentices proving invaluable during the on-going pandemic.

“And, as we all hope, we start to conquer this virus, traditional trade roles will be needed more than ever, and apprentices will continue to address skills gaps whilst creating sustainable employment opportunities across countless sectors. As part of JTL’s support to ensure a pipeline of skilled tradespeople, we are on-hand to speak to employers who are keen to invest in the training and development of an apprentice”.
