The Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM) has to announced the launch of two awards in recognition of the outstanding contribution made by both gas industry Engineering Technicians and apprentice engineers.
The Engineering Technician of the Year Award will recognise one exceptional EngTech who is able to demonstrate how they have taken on extra responsibilities and gone beyond their normal duties to further the gas industry. Any charity or voluntary work related to engineering and encouraging young people into engineering is particularly relevant. The winner will receive £1500.
The Apprentice of the Year Award is designed to inspire the next generation to pursue a career in engineering. This award will recognise and reward an apprentice who has made significant contributions to their workplace within the last 12 months and the winner will be rewarded with a £1000 prize.
IGEM President Steve Edwards says: “We are looking for the leaders of tomorrow, engineers who have made an outstanding contribution to their organisations and exceeded expectations in everything they do. The judges are looking for individuals who demonstrate considerable commitment to their personal development, progression and the gas industry as a whole.”
Potential candidates can either nominate themselves or someone they know. The deadline for entries is 12th April and applications are now open online at www.igem.org.uk.
